Violence and insecurity in public spaces are pressing issues affecting societies worldwide. In its broadest sense, violence is a form of human behavior rooted in power imbalances aimed at subjugating one or more individuals. This study aimed to analyze how violence and insecurity limit women's rights to access and use public spaces in the city of Andahuaylas, using a descriptive and phenomenological qualitative approach. Data were collected through observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentary review. The findings highlight recurring instances of physical, psychological, and sexual violence against women in Andahuaylas, emphasizing the urgent need for government intervention. Effective public policies and inclusive strategies, designed from a gender-sensitive perspective, are essential to ensure safety, equality, and full participation of women in urban and work environments.
