Comportamiento de la tasa de mortalidad infantil, tras un esquema de inmunización oportuna: Revisión Sistemática

Resumen

Los efectos sobre la mortalidad presentadas por las vacunas, sobre todo en la BCG que presenta la evidencia más fuerte, debido a estudios aleatorios realizados en Guinea-Bissau; parece que abarca no solo una protección directa, si no que aparentemente genera una buena respuesta inmune adaptativa heterogénea. Se efectuó una revisión sistemática, con el objetivo de analizar el comportamiento de la tasa de mortalidad infantil posterior a una inmunización oportuna, a través de la consulta de artículos científicos en diferentes bases de datos confiables con la aplicación de DeCS y MeSH. La recolección de artículos fue sistemática, para lo que se empleó la declaración de PRISMA.  Los autores en su mayoría coincidieron en que, una inmunización oportuna produce un descenso en la tasa de mortalidad infantil, especialmente en los países con recursos bajos en los que el riesgo de contraer alguna de estas patologías es mayor. Sin embargo, uno de los estudios realizados en Estados Unidos evidenció un aumento en la tasa de letalidad infantil cuando se aplica un mayor número de dosis.  Concluyendo que las vacunas resultaron ser efectivas para disminuir la tasa de mortalidad infantil en particular, en los territorios con bajos ingresos económicos.
