Abstract

The uncertainty brought about by the unknown was one of the main triggers of fear, anxiety, insecurity, and other negative emotions during the pandemic, significantly affecting the mental health of both the general population and healthcare personnel. Among them, nursing professionals remained steadfast in the face of adversity, fully fulfilling their professional responsibilities despite the circumstances. This study aims to describe the role of community nurses during the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as their resilience in response to this critical context. Methodologically, it is a descriptive systematic review with a qualitative approach, based on the analysis of full-text articles indexed in scientific databases over the past five years. The findings indicate that community nursing staff demonstrated a high level of resilience, which enabled them to play a key role during the pandemic. It is concluded that the inherent characteristics of nursing professionals, along with their professionalism and technical-scientific knowledge, were decisive factors in strengthening their resilience and enabling them to respond effectively to the health emergency.
