APORTES METODOLÓGICOS PARA EVALUAR LA INTENCIÓN DE CONTINUAR PRACTICANDO EJERCICIO FÍSICO

Resumen

La intención futura de continuar practicando ejercicio físico es un factor determinante para el mantenimiento del mismo. Entre la heterogeneidad de las operacionalizaciones se destacan las valoraciones basadas en la estimación de la probabilidad para continuar con una práctica futura. El objetivo fue analizar el funcionamiento de una escala diseñada para evaluar la intención futura de continuar practicando ejercicio físico en adultos argentinos. Este estudio adoptó un enfoque cuantitativo con diseño no experimental y de corte transversal. Participaron 219 adultos residentes de la Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires que reportaron realizar ejercicio físico regularmente. Se delimitaron cuatro ítems representativos de diferentes períodos de tiempo con respuestas comprendidas en un continuo del 0 % al 100 %. El análisis descriptivo evidenció una predominante elección de respuesta para los valores máximos de la escala, manifestando elevadas puntuaciones medias y una marcada asimetría negativa. Se presentaron asociaciones positivas entre la intención y las diferentes características del ejercicio. Aun así, los gráficos de dispersión muestran una marcada agrupación de casos en el valor más alto de intención. Los resultados evidencian importantes limitaciones prácticas de la escala, con un predominio del efecto de techo y dificultad para discriminar entre las intenciones de los participantes. Se resalta la necesidad de desarrollar nuevo contenido y ser cautelosos al aplicar e interpretar medidas semejantes.
