Potencial terapéutico de péptidos derivados del veneno de escorpión en cáncer: evidencia experimental y clínica

Resumen

Los péptidos derivados del veneno de escorpión han despertado interés en la investigación oncológica debido a su capacidad para interactuar con blancos moleculares implicados en la progresión tumoral. Estas moléculas bioactivas representan una posible fuente de agentes terapéuticos innovadores en un contexto donde la selectividad y la eficacia continúan siendo desafíos centrales. El objetivo de esta revisión fue analizar críticamente la evidencia experimental y clínica disponible sobre el potencial terapéutico de estos péptidos en cáncer. Se realizó una revisión bibliográfica en bases de datos biomédicas internacionales, seleccionando estudios preclínicos y clínicos publicados en los últimos años, con criterios de inclusión definidos y análisis temático de resultados. La evidencia experimental muestra efectos antiproliferativos, proapoptóticos y de direccionamiento tumoral, destacando la clorotoxina en gliomas. No obstante, la evidencia clínica es limitada y aún exploratoria. Se concluye que, aunque estos péptidos son prometedores, requieren mayor validación clínica para consolidarse como opciones terapéuticas viables
