Abstract: Issues related to dissident sexualities have gained increasing relevance in research in recent years. This study addresses life satisfaction and emotional dependence in the population with dissident sexual orientations, given their exposure to unique challenges related to social acceptance and discrimination. A cross-sectional correlational study was conducted with 270 participants of diverse sexual orientations and ages (18-35 years, mean 24), using the Emotional Dependence Questionnaire (EDC) and the Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS). Significant differences were found between the population with dissenting and non-dissenting sexual orientations on several aspects of emotional dependence, including separation anxiety, affective expression toward partners, borderline expression, fear of loneliness, plan modification, and attention seeking. In addition, a significant and positive relationship was identified between life satisfaction and separation anxiety (rs = .02), attention seeking (rs = .17), and affective expression toward a partner (rs = .23). These results indicate that these factors are intertwined and play an essential role in the emotional well-being and quality of life.
