Abstract

Understanding the negative influence of video games on preschool students and their effects on daily behavior within the educational environment is essential for preschool teachers. The objective of this article was to analyze the violent behavior of boys and girls in high school classrooms as a consequence of the inappropriate use of video games through a systematic review. A non-experimental descriptive qualitative design was used based on the PRISMA method of systematic review, in open access scientific bases such as: REDALYC, SCIELO, REFSEEK, DIALNET, DOAJ, 25 units of analysis were obtained. The results after an in-depth analysis show that the effects of video games can be on the one hand negative, related to violence, sexism, racism, aggressiveness, isolation, and positive such as predisposition for learning, visual skills, creativity and motor learning. In conclusion, it is highlighted that the effects of video games, whether positive or negative, will depend on the type of games to which one has access, the time dedicated to said games and parental control over their use.
