Abstract

Abstract: Current classifications of methods in psychology are reviewed, analyzing the postulates of theoretical, qualitative empirical, quantitative empirical and mixed methods. Outside of the current classifications, a classification that includes Review studies is analyzed and postulated, subgrouping them in: 1. Theoretical studies of bibliographic and/or documentary analysis that provide a vision on a specific theme of psychological science with a clipping researcher's own. The development of these investigations presents a theoretical and conceptual content. 2. Quantitative empirical studies. 3. Qualitative empirical studies. 4. Mixed studies, which combine research from both the qualitative paradigm and the quantitative paradigm. 5. Review Studies, which host the studies of: 5.1 Narrative reviews, 5.2 Systematic reviews. 5.3 Metasynthesis. 5.4 Meta-analysis. 5.5 Bibliometric studies. It is estimated that this codification proposal gives rise to the inclusion of current research in pursuit of the advancement of psychology as a science.
